Eating Weight Watchers low point foods is easy, if you know how to do it.

I’m always looking for low-point Weight Watchers foods.

As you know, this is why my blog, My40somethinglife.com took this direction. I need to speedy access to points (outside the WW app) when I eat out or create a meal I really like.

My “go to” lately has been Chipotle AND Olive Garden. Chipotle has tons of low-point options (if you know how to work it) and Olive Garden now has zucchini noodles (or Zoodles). Honestly, I didn’t love them, but I get them because they keep me on track.

Next time, I may get some spaghetti noodles on the side and mix them in. I dunno.

On the WW Connect app, my name is “warmbannanas” (don’t ask why) and here are a few things milling around my head (and my Connect profile) on my crazy quest for Weight Watchers low point foods.

I created a chocolate strawberry shortcake and it was heavenly. The “short cake” was a 1/4 cup of Dark Chocolate Kodiak Cakes and a 1/4 cup (or so) almond milk. The cake added to 3 points. I topped with lots of strawberries (zero points) and a generous squirt of whipped topping (I gave it 2 points)

I’m a “grazer” – that’s my eating style. How about your? Are you a 3 meals and done person?

Anyhoo, I like to munch my way through the day. I’d don’t really care what it is, I just like to eat. Are you that way?

Well, I found cheese sticks (these are pepper/jalapeno flavored) with tomatoes are heavenly. Most sticks are only about 3 points, but you can see I don’t need a whole stick because mine are spicy. Think of the cheese as a way to get the tomatoes down without feeling “slighted”.

Coffee. I love coffee.

But, I struggle with getting the creamer the way I want it without adding a gazillion points to my cup. These days I’m measuring out the creamer just to keep it manageable.

Amaretto is my “go to” flavor, but once I get the “color”I like, I find I’ve added 7 points!!! I’ve tried almond milk. Meh. I wasn’t impressed.

Premier Protein is also good. But, you MUST use the entire bottle if you want a creamy coffee. It’s only 2 points and yummy. So, what not?

“Ole” Girl is getting there!

Let me make you laugh. in the above photo, I’m 199 pounds at 5’5. Seriously. That’s why I don’t pay any attention to body comparisons. I look slim because of the way my body evenly distributes fat, but I”m grossly over weight in this photo. However, since typing this, I’m down 12 pounds.

These were a pleasant surprise! They are chicken nuggets from a company called “CaliPower’. You gotta love their byline “No cluckin’ way”. Well, I was incredibly shocked how much I LOVED these and only 3 Weight Watchers Points! I got them from Walmart. AMAZING AND FILLING!!! I dunk them in low fat ranch dressing sometimes.

Lunches with leftovers are what you see here below. I had left filet mignonette and some chicken breast. Salad with no dressing and a dill pickle.

I don’t know about you but this is what I call comfort food – cabbage! It’s (zero points) naturally, but the pic is with butter (5 points) and a little olive oil and 2 slices of bacon (3 points). You could steam it and cut the points. Sometimes I’ll put it in the Instant Pot with a cup of water and only 4 minutes.

Cornish Hens Low-Point Recipe

My life was changed when I had my first Cornish hens. Yes, I was old when I first tried them, but it’s never too late.

I cooked them in the Instant Pot and then finished in the oven for browning.

Here’s what I used:

1 Onion

2 Cornish hens

2 tbsp Dried Rosemary

1 lemon

1/2 cup of White wine

1/2 cup chicken stock

1/2 tbsp butter (softened)

2 tsp Poultry season

1 tsp Garlic powder

5 cloves of garlic

salt and pepper

1. Dry the hens with paper towels.

2. Rub the outside with the butter.

3. Sprinkle with poultry seasoning, salt, pepper and garlic powder.

4. Stuff the cavity with lemon, rosemary (leave a little for top) and pour about a splash of white wine in cavity.

5. Add wine and broth to Instant Pot.

6. Use trivet and place seasoned hen on trivet. Place the lid on the Instant Pot and set the steam release to sealing.

7. Press Manual and set time to 12 minutes.

8. When cooking time ends, let it release gradually on it’s own.

9. Turn your oven broiler to 400 degrees. Broil then until it’s as brown as you like it. Sometimes, I’ll spay cookie spray to speed it up without adding points.

10. Let the hens rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Enjoy for 1 Weight Watcher Point for 2 servings.
