Ready for values for Weight Watchers Smart Points – Olive Garden and Chili’s 2018?

Note: I’ve updated this for the new BLUE program

I love Weight Watchers Smart Points!  I also love Olive Garden and Chili’s. Can you say breadsticks? These don’t always “go together”, but I love them. Literally. Love. So, I needed to create this post featuring “Weight Watchers Smart Points – Olive Garden and Chili’s 2017”.

I’m not sure why these two are my “go-to” spots. It’s probably because my husband has been virtually addicted to Olive Garden since birth. Just kidding. But, my family loves eating there. I personally like a local place called Garrozzo’s Italian Restaurant.  It’s real Italian food.  As for Chili’s, I love their fajitas!  But, when I want real Mexican food, I go to another local joint called Manny’s Mexican Restaurant. 🙂

Anyhoo, I’m glad the Weight Watchers plan offers enough flexibility for me to have my Chili’s and Olive Garden from time to time. However, it’s not all rainbows and Jolly Ranchers.  Both restaurants can do a real number on my daily Smart Points allotment. Ugh.  I get 30 points a day and most burger and fries combos come dangerously close to that number (if not exceeding it). Same goes for Olive Garden, I can easily eat all my daily points with the breadsticks alone. Here’s how I try to budget them, but it’s hard.

But, I think I’ve found the way out of this point-deficit funhouse.  I’m planning to do it the next time one of my girlfriends calls and says:

“Hey, Girl, what are you doing for lunch?”

Instead of arriving at the restaurant and finding myself totally off-guard by all the yummy high-point options, I’ll quickly grab my iPad and visit My40somethinglife.com!  Then, I’ll search for this blog post and make wise choices from the carefully crafted list below. Problem solved.

No more “deer in headlights” moments that usually leave me ordering something crazy like a double-decker lasagna burger with a side of fries and sour cream on top.  Well, not really, but when I don’t plan ahead, I usually order something just as stupid.

Let’s see what I came up with so far:

The next time I go, I’ll consider having the following:

Grilled Chicken Salad
13 SmartPoints

6 oz Sirloin with Grilled Avocado
11 SmartPoints

Chili’s Grilled Chicken
2 Weight Watchers Smart Points

Chili’s Black Beans
2 Weight Watchers Smart Points

Chili’s Steamed Broccoli (side)
0 Weight Watchers SmartPoint

That’s a 5 point lunch right there! You can’t beat that!

Margarita Grilled Chicken
15 SmartPoints

Mango-Chile Chicken
14 SmartPoints

Ancho Salmon
15 SmartPoints

Seared Shrimp
11 SmartPoints

Chili’s Side Rice
4 Weight Watchers SmartPoints

Chili’s Asparagus and Garlic Roasted Tomatoes
 6 Weight Watchers Smart Points

Bacon Avocado Chicken Sandwich
16 SmartPoints

CA Turkey Club
17 SmartPoints

Top Shelf Tacos – Ranchero Chicken
20 SmartPoints

Homestyle Fries
6 SmartPoints

If you like guacamole as I do, order a small side of it for only 4 points and put it on your steak.

For a drink, I’ll have either a diet coke, water, or iced tea.

Ready for my next favorite food haunt? Olive Garden can be a little tricky.  That salad is not zero points unless you forgo the dressing and ditch the croutons. And the way they peddle those breadsticks! It’s a crying shame. Don’t worry, though.  It’s still very doable; just opt for the minestrone soup for only 3 Smart Points.

Now, for the best Weight Watchers Smart Points options for Olive Garden…

If you’re really craving pasta, have Olive Garden’s Spaghetti with Meat Sauce – Tuscan Duo/Trios (lunch portion).  It’s only 11 Weight Watchers’ Smart Points! Did you know you can request whole-wheat pasta?  I’m not sure how many Smart Points that would be, but it’s likely a better choice.

I could also have the Olive Garden Baked Tilapia with Shrimp at only 8 Weight Watchers Smart Points.

The Garlic Rosemary Chicken is also a great lunch option at 11 points. But, I’ll skip the salad and the breadsticks.

Be sure to beware of those Olive Garden breadsticks.  They can be scarier than Halloween when it comes to Weight Watchers!

Olive Garden breadsticks are 4 points.  That’s really not too bad as long as you eat only one breadstick (But, who does that???)

Olive Garden House Salad and Dressing will add 4 Weight Watchers Smart Points to your meal – that’s without the croutons. I’d go for the steamed broccoli for only zero.

Risotto Bites (lunch)
11 Smart Points

Also, one serving of Grilled Shrimp is only 0 Weight Watchers Smart Point. Thanks, Freestyle!

Taste of Mediterranean dinner Herb-Grilled Salmon
7 SmartPoints

Early Dinner Duos Chicken Piccata
8 SmartPoints

One serving of Marinara is 2 Smart Points.

Garlic Parmesan Fries
8 SmartPoints

Early Dinner Duos Grilled Chicken Parmigiana
11 SmartPoints

Italian Sausage Links (2 links)
16 Smart Points

Taste of Mediterranean (Dinner) Tilapia
8 SmartPoints

Chocolate Mousse Mini Dessert
11 Smart Points

How many points in the Olive Garden Bellini Peach-Raspberry Iced Tea?
It’s 4 points per serving and you know they’ll be re-filling it for you!  We’re better off with just plain unsweetened tea.

I might even have the Olive Garden Parmesan Crusted Zucchini.  If I do, I can subtract 3 points from my allocation.

Whole Wheat Linguine is 9 SmartPoints

If I do the zucchini, I’ll pair it with some sort of protein like the grilled chicken for 2 Smart Points. Otherwise, I’ll be hungry again in an hour.

Soups at-a-Glance

Zuppa Toscana – 8 Smart Points

Minestrone (again) – 1 Smart Point

Pasta e Fagioli – 2 Smart Points

Chicken & Gnocchi – 8 Smart Points

Well, there it is.  I hope I’ve given you a few ideas. Enjoy!  Be sure to subscribe!

Wait!!!!  This is still an over-40 style and fashion blog!
Here’s a church outfit. Peep those shoes!

  1. As a vegan, eating out at places like these is a real chore. I don’t have to count points, but make sure no meat or dairy products go into my body, and I’ve lost over 80 pounds and changed my entire life, for free. I find that going to an upscale restaurant when eating healthy is less expensive and much more fun than chains like this!

    1. I never thought about that. I guess vegans much be quiet intentional about what restaurants are doing too. Great comment. Thanks for the tip and the comment.

    1. I’ve heard that. I must learn the best swaps. I do know about cauliflower instead of potatoes. I’m sure there are many more. Thanks for stopping through, GiGi!

    1. Me too. Still working on balancing those points, but so far so good. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Wouldn’t it be useful if restaurants would put the points and nutritional info on the menus.. some restaurants in the UK do! It’s useful that you’ve listed popular restaurant dishes here with their points

    1. Thanks, Tamsin! I plan to do other restaurants too! You’re so lucky some restaurants list them. Applebee’s used to do it here, but they stopped. 🙁
