Question of the day: what colors match with orange clothing?
As an African-American woman over 40, I’ve always been interested in which colors look best on me. Some colors drown me out and make me look older. Others, make me look muddy. Then there are those colors that bring me life! I’m never sure why. Maybe it’s my tone. Color analysis is tricky for women of color (especially us over 40) because of our underlying undertones. Some color analysis sites say I’m a deep autumn others a warm spring. Who cares! I look great in orange and I love it! However, I’ve been pondering what to wear with an orange jacket for a while. Then, I found what I needed in my closet!
I took some risks here by matching these two colors I wouldn’t ordinarily pair – orange and pale blue. More adventure ensued as I put on a burgundy fashion wig to coincide with this bright palette.
Oh, did I mention I wore this to church? Yeah, I did.
I love this jacket so much! It’s stylish, elegant for makes me feel like a certified forty-something fashionista. But, I grew tired of matching it with a white blouse, a white tank, a white shell. This blue colored shirt was a great pick, don’t you think?
The wig is FreeTress Equal Deep Diagonal Part Synthetic Lace Front Wig – Hania in dark burgundy. I cut a few layers into it.
I didn’t invent this color combo and I wasn’t sure it would work. I think it did, don’t you?
Here are colors tradition complimentary to women with Deep Autumn skin tones.
Going a bit deeper, you can always turn to your color wheel. If you look at colors positioned opposite of the color (in my case orange), you can often find a great color combo for your outfits. I’ve done this for years. This is how I knew the orange and blue would work.
